I have to agree with the other two-star review. The first book in this series was a clever retelling of the Cinderella fairytale with some excellent scifi world-building to boot. Book #2 managed to build on this without drifting too far into the teen romance arena, but by book #3, Cress, the pairing off of the main characters was too convenient and middle-school.
What began as a promising science fiction series has devolved into another Twilight. I'm done with this author and her characters and will leave them to the YA audience who finds them appealing.

We (and Cinder) have spent three books familiarizing ourselves with the situation and the author needs to get a move on with a story. I'm not asking for a complete character changeover but a little more maturity, quick thinking and awareness will be much appreciated. Too much time is being wasted reading about Cinder's indecisiveness and naivety.

Cress as a character and as a book, I'm sorry to say, was a complete bore. There is way too much swooning for my taste and the action is severely lacking. And now we look forward to another book, with another POV, with another damsel in distress who is also screwed up in the head. Fun times...

Amaze-balls! What more can I say. Normally by this time in a series I am exhausted and ready to reach the finale, but I am looking forward to the fourth installment. If it is written as well as the three previous novels I can tolerate a fifth. I love how Cinder remains the primary character and how cleverly Meyers modernizes the classic fairytale characters.
