The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts were a fixture on NBC's Thursday night lineup from 1973 to 1984. In those 11 years, Dean and his panel of pals successfully ridiculed, embarrassed, and made fun of legendary stars like Johnny Carson, Bob Hope, and Dean Martin himself, and America loved it! The DVD brings back all the fun from years gone by, and contains hours of hilarious camp and humor as celebrities are roasted by a who's who of stage, screen, sports, and political stars.

Cringe factor definite, and rarely all that funny. The footage has been hugely edited because these roasts were very raunchy, racist and sexist. They probably should have left the shows in their entirety as it is very disjointed. However, it is worth watching to catch glimpses of people (not all celebrities) that are seldom seen on film. But be prepared to want to forget this period in our entertainment history and wonder what were we thinking? Also forget watching the extras - especially Don Rickles self congratulatory, self promoting, self aggrandizing interview, and Dean Martin looking hugely unhappy and uncomfortable in his TV series Deans Place.
