Penguins are some of the most endearing animals--partly because they're so cute, and partly because they form close family bonds. This three-part documentary profiles three different types of penguins in three different climates. A fourth type of penguin (Adélie) makes a brief cameo appearance. The clever use of spy cameras leads to some unique and interesting footage. Scottish actor David Tennant narrates the series eloquently. It's refreshing to hear a narrator with a regional accent instead of a "neutral" accent.

Amazing photography and narration!!!

Like most wildlife shows, this one is meant to entertain as well as inform. In some other shows, that's just irritating ("Here's Suki and her cubs Binki and Bonki"). However, "Penguins . . ." is more subtle that that, with the entertainment factor coming partly from penguin interaction with camerabots disguised as penguins, rocks, etc, and partly from the (to us) naturally goofy actions of the birds themselves. David Tennant offers charming narration and, like all BBC wildlife programming, it's brilliantly filmed.
