This is the last season with Hermione Norris.
Don't get me wrong -- this series is well worth watching the end but, in my opinion, it's a little weaker without Norris.
So, if you are going to stop watching, this isn't a bad place to do so.
I've jumped in at season 3, and I'm going back for more. It's very British, like the Lynley mysteries or Frost, but better and more intelligent. It's gory, like Dexter. It's a bit unbelieveable, but I'm okay with that. Our lonely mindreading professor hero is like Patrick on the Mentalist, only the Mentalist is a really nice sweet guy and nothing but, and the Wire guy I suspect has a shocking bad edge that may or may not be under control. There was a disturbing scene at the end of the first episode... well, anyways. It's dry and quiet and completely suspenseful and has great, real characters. The whole thing reminds me a lot of Durham County, which is a good thing.
