Withers Waller Moncure was born in 1931 in the village of Stafford and spent his childhood there as one of a few young boys. He attended school just up the street, knew about everyone and most of the goings on in the neighborhood. His athletic abilities led him to other schools after which he became a professional baseball player for a time. Included are decriptions of the locations of buildings and families within the village and the activities along US Route 1 during the late 30s and 40s. Mention is made of churches, schools, and some courthouse and jail activities plus some dicey activities which took place centered around 'the Courhouse" on election day.--Container insert.
