Civil War general Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson became a great and tragic American hero. In April of 1862 he was merely another Confederate general with only a single battle credential in an army fighting in what seemed to be a losing cause. By middle June he had engineered perhaps the greatest military campaign in American history and was one of the most famous men in the Western World.

I can't believe I'm the first to comment on this audiobook! I only checked it out as a passing curiosity about Stonewall Jackson, having been to Lexington VA, and realizing I knew nothing. I figured I'd listened until I got bored. Instead, I very quickly became engrossed in the life of Stonewall Jackson. This book is extremely well researched and written. This might be one of the most interesting biographies I've ever read. The audio reading is exceptional as well. I thought I wasn't really interested in the Civil War, but I listened with rapt attention to battle plans and outcomes, the personalities involved. I now understand why Jackson was such a hero to his men and the south. What a story! And American story. I highly recommend giving this a listen. I also ended up buying the book to read as well.
