Book Corner: This Summer, Readers Soaked up Sun and Stories

Central Rappahannock Regional Library’s Summer Reading program may have come to an end, but the many books we read can be enjoyed all year long. I’m proud that more than 1,700 adults participated, and expect that number to be even higher next year. (I’m looking at you!) So what did everyone read over the summer? Plenty of children’s books, for one. Clearly, many parents logged the books they r... (more)

Winter was the fourth and final book in the Lunar Chronicles. Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress were absolutely amazing! Winter was the final book and I had high hopes for it, it did not disappoint me.
The book was action-packed and filled with humor, a bit of romance, and lots of plot twists. This was my favorite book in the series, I found that the characters really come to life in Winter.
I really recommend this series to anyone who likes sci-fi, action- and fairytales. I myself did not really expect myself to enjoy it so much because I'm not really into Sci-fi, but I loved it.
The only problem I had with this series was not really a problem. It is written clearly for an older age then I am, so I found quite a few new words. If you don't mind looking in a dictionary for words then I think you can read this book 12 and over.
I loved it so much it gets a 200/100 score!!!!

Lunar Chronicles - fourth book

Dec 23, 2019

This is a wonderful meeting of this band of fairy tale characters. Winter, like the previous books, is so true to the fairy tales while also being incredibly refreshing. With 9 main characters you'd think it would be hard to keep them separate. But Marissa Meyer weaves and incredible tale as these character meetings snowball.

In Cinder, the first book of the Lunar Chronicles, we met a Cinderella cyborg; in Scarlet, Cinder met our Little Red Riding Hood; in Cress, Cinder and Scarlet met Rapunzel. And now, at long last, these three ladies (and their guys) meet Snow White.

I read this series, bought it, then listened to of them on audiobook. These characters are so unique and has been an absolute pleasure to share their adventure!

Also, check out Stars Above, a collection of short stories set in the Lunar Chronicles universe. You will *Love* the last short.

I'm still amazed how Marissa Meyer manages to keep us on track with 9 main characters! She's such a magnificently detailed and vibrant writer. I loved this conclusion to this saga!

I loved the entire series and though at first this book seemed too long at the end it was too short. Marissa Meyers intricately weaves the plot lines of Winter, Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress differentiating their unique personalities and love stories. This book is the perfect mix of sci fi, romance, and adventure and is a perfect end to the series. I loved it.

I read this book to fulfil the goal read a book set in space. i really enjoyed this series. they are a twist on the disney princess mixed with science fiction/fantasy. Although the books are long, they have a lot of pleasant and sometimes not pleasant twist and turns. highly entertaining.

Addictive, epic fantasy finale.

This book was AMAZING!! The ending to this series could not have been any better. It wrapped the characters stories up perfectly, and I loved the ending scene when (spoiler) Cinder lets go of her cyborg foot because it symbolizes that she is letting go of her past!!! For such a deceptively huge book I sure finished it fast. Don't miss the next book (which has a short story that continues to end the series) Stars Above, and Fairest (which tells about Levana) and Wires and Nerve graphic novels!!!!

Simply the best way to end off a successful and well written series. The series never has a weak spot and always kept me entertained. Amazing.
