I would have given this five stars if it hadn't been for the 100 to perhaps 120 pages of useless, boring details about things that couldn't possibly matter, and do we really, at this point, need to be told five separate times (in minute detail) in this book that detectives turn sideways as they approach an unknown situation to make themselves a smaller target? I think Lisa Gardner is a vastly talented writer, but I also think Ben Sevier and Vicki Mellor are truly horrible editors.

Written in her usual back-and-forth between victim and detective style, this book is a bit of a departure for Gardner in that it's not actually a murder mystery. Instead, it follows the kidnapping of a family of three and the attempts to locate and rescue them. Nevertheless, it has the usual twists and turns and is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Another entertaining read by Lisa Gardner. This is the 2nd book in the Tessa Leoni series. I like her character and liked the addition of New Hampshire detective Wyatt Foster. Good plot with Tessa and Wyatt trying to find a kidnapped family. Lisa Gardner's writing style is engaging and makes for good page turners.

Could not put this book down. Great story and a great ending. I read the first in the series - Love you More and this is just as good as the first one. Will definitely be reading #3 - Crash and Burn. Lisa Gardner is a great novelist and will read more of her books! Sept 2017

She's been on my list of authors to read for years, but this is the first novel I've read! Very exciting right until the end! Good plot twists too! Looking forward to reading another!

Justin & Libby Denbe have what seems to be the perfect life. A great marriage, a beautiful 15 yr old daughter Ashlyn, & a lavish home in Boston's elite Back Bay neighborhood. Tessa Leoni is called in to investigate when the Denbe's vanish without a trace. It appears they were abducted yet there are no witnesses, no ransom demands and no motive. Slowly the secrets start to unravel and betrayals come to light. An excellent psychological thriller that had me guessing until the very end.

I probably didn't give this enough time, but I just couldn't get into it! I tried but it was so boring. I just finished Girl on the Train and heard that this one was even better... wow, just couldn't do it.

Read this after finishing The Girl On The Train and found it much more engaging. Dysfunctional characters in both but more believable in the Gardner work. All you folks waiting to get your hands on the current New York Times #1 bestseller, go for Gardner. You'll be glad you did.

A good read with mother-daughter bonding and mother's courage and ingenuity.
