If you loved the first book, TARZAN OF THE APES, as much as I did, you'll feel compelled to read this one, which answers the love-triangle questions left unresolved at the end of OF THE APES. Lord knows I have needed those questions answered, as, even though I read deeper/ later into the series, Burroughs strayed from the Tarzan-Jane romance, only to return in a peripheral way. By the way, there was never a chimpanzee named Cheetah involved in Burroughs' creation.// In RETURN, Tarzan continues the process of self-education begun in Africa, when he was taught French, the only man-language he knew, until he and Jane reached civilization. Tarzan became a library rat, and his character grew accordingly. As far as I am aware, the movies missed this character development, preferring instead to pursue the Dr. Doolittle angle, and the he-man angle, and the having-been-raised-by-apes, angle. I guess maybe they did marketing research.
