Seventeen-year-old Cassie is a natural at reading people. Piecing together the tiniest details, she can tell you who you are and what you want. But, it's not a skill that she's ever taken seriously. That is, until the FBI come knocking: they've begun a classified program that uses exceptional teenagers to crack infamous cold cases, and they need Cassie.

What Cassie doesn't realize is that there's more at risk than a few unsolved homicides-especially when she's sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own. Soon, it becomes clear that no one in the Naturals program is what they seem. And when a new killer strikes, danger looms close. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse with a killer, the Naturals are going to have to use all of their gifts just to survive.

Think The Mentalist meets Pretty Little Liars-Jennifer Lynn Barnes's The Naturals is a gripping psychological thriller with killer appeal, a to-die-for romance, and the bones of a gritty and compelling new series.

From Library Staff

Cassie is part of an elite FBI crime-solving unit--that happens to be made up of all teenagers, but can they continue to hold their own when a serial killer targets one of them?

Imagine being 17 and working for The FBI, and you can probably imagine Cassie's life. Except The FBI is determined to keep their teenage prodigies out of the cases directly, but how can they do that when a serial killer targets Cassie?

Pair with "The Truth of All Things" by Kieran Shields. Very different stories about serial killers and the people who try to find them.

One of the best series I've ever read! I've never liked re-reading books but with this series, I can't help it! This series is very well written and everything is explained so clearly that there is a perfect image in my head every time that never changes.

Welcome to a world where teenagers solve murders and crimes for the FBI. The novel revolves around seventeen-year-old Cassie, who can 'read' people. From a glance or two at one person, she can notice the tiniest details about them and decipher who they are and what they want. But she has never taken the gift farther than reading the odd person. Until now. The FBI approaches Cassie with an idea: She joins a group of teens just like her to solve cold cases and current murders crimes. Something Cassie doesn't understand is that once she agree's with their plan, people begin to look not as they seem and she has to trust where her loyalties lie. Now it's up to her to see the pattern in the crimes before it's too late and she's the one dead. Overall I think was a fun an easy read. The suspense in it could use a little help and so good the romance. I am not a huge fan of crime-ish or thriller books, so maybe if you are this would be a great read for you. The other thing I didn't like was it seemed all to fake. One minute Cassie is reading people and wishing to put a rest on her (dead) mothers case and then BAM... The FBI is there with an opportunity with a direct lead to her mom's case. And then once she arrived at the home for the Naturals everyone was obsessed with her. And then there's the LOVE TRIANGLE... I really don't know where to start here. First, it's Dean (shocker, I know) and then Michael. Dean Michael. Dean. And she pretty much liked anyone who looked hot. Overall it was pretty good, but there is definitely a lot to change. 3 STARS

Cassie’s life is turned upside down when the FBI decides to recruit her, along with a group of teenagers that possess remarkable abilities. Many people may not know that Cassie is, in fact, a profiler. She can find out information about someone based on their appearance. Cassie is part of a classified program developed by the FBI, in order to use children to help track down serial killers. To make matters worse, a serial killer seems to have taken an absurd obsession with Cassie. She must learn to trust others and work together to hunt down this killer once and for all. When I was reading this book, I was captivated yet disturbed at the same time. The author managed to transport the reader into the head of serial killers exceptionally well.

When Cassie Hobbes suddenly becomes an interest of the FBI, she leaves her home where she lives with her relatives and boards a plane to Washington DC. Cassie, an 18-year-old girl, isn’t your normal teenager. For her, normal is overrated. As a child she had the ability to profile someone based on the information she gathered by analyzing him or her. Raised through a childhood of trickery and defrauding, Cassie’s profiling ability developed as she grew. When the FBI learned of this, Cassie was called in for a spot in a group called ‘The Naturals’ where other teenagers like her were placed. Her ability was put to the test when an active murderer was identified. As she works on this case secretly with the help of Michael, a boy who can read emotions and body language, and Sloane, a girl who is capable of holding a large amount of information and processing information quickly, Cassie realizes how personal this case could get. A real page-turner, anyone with an interest in crime investigation will surely love reading this book, for murder is around every corner in their world… Rating 9/10.

Characters: 7/10
Plot: 10/10
Writing: 8/10
I really enjoyed this book. The plot was really fast-paced and engaging. I could barely put it down. It was a little on the intense side, with getting into the killer’s mind and with the way "you" killed "your" victims, but it was manageable even though I'm majorly anti-gore. The “You” sections were startling/unsettling at first, but once the reason for the “you” was explained it became more and more interesting. The whole profiling thing itself was fascinating. The characters were easily established, which meant they felt a little archetypal/stereotypical, but they also did things that were surprising and interesting.

I agree with an earlier rating that it seems to be mostly writtern for younger teens those that are from ages 12-14 but I am a verrrry old teen and I liked it. I'm planning to read the next book. Its very simple and easy to understand and has a nice plot.
