A charming book! This version of Grimm's fairy tales is illustrated by a famous Swiss advertising artist of the postwar period, and he uses all his skills of perspective, color and interpretation to create scenes that are beautifully imaginative.
I can see how he may have influenced Sendak, but he still has beauty as an essential element in modern, not romantic, art, which was created from 1944 to 1949. It was compiled for this lovely book in 2015.
