Thirty-fifth in line for the British throne, Lady Georgiana Rannoch becomes embroiled in royal wrongdoing in the ninth mystery from the New York Times bestselling author of Crowned and Dangerous .

Caught between her high birth and empty purse, Georgie is relieved to receive a new assignment from the Queen. The King's youngest son, George, is to wed Princess Marina of Greece, and the Queen wants Georgie to be her companion: showing her the best of London--and dispelling any rumors about George's libertine history.

The prince is known for his many affairs with women as well as men--including the great songwriter Noel Coward. But things truly get complicated when one of his supposed mistresses is murdered.

The Queen wants the whole matter hushed. But as the case unfolds--and Georgie's beau Darcy, as always, turns up in the most unlikely of places--their investigation brings them precariously close to the prince himself.

I didn't finish this book. Why, because it started out with the same problems-Darcy is gone, limited funds, and she is more or less homeless. Same as always. After awhile it is boring.

The ninth and most recent installment in this charming series might be my favorite yet, as Bowen expertly blends the usual whodunit with some exciting developments in the personal lives of Georgie and a few of her friends. Furthermore, the book's ending will ensure that fans will be on the edge of their seats eagerly awaiting book #10. Anglophiles and historical mystery fans, you'll want to try this series.

Every one of the Royal Spyness books has been an immensely enjoyable read as each one has unique characters injected into the highly successful formula.
Read them all; wish there were more.

Good, but not the best. While the fleshing-out of Belinda's character is welcome, much of the book felt overly formulaic - yet again...Georgie has nowhere to live; she is assigned a Royal duty; she doubts Darcy; she misses the killer until the last minute - (most remarkably this time, as he was quite obvious). Let's hope the unexpected final sentence is not a blind and does lead to a new chapter in Georgie's life.
