The audacious new novel from bestselling author Megan Abbott, "one of the best living mystery writers" (Grantland). Katie and Eric Knox have dedicated their lives to their fifteen-year-old daughter Devon, a gymnastics prodigy and Olympic hopeful. But when a violent death rocks their close-knit gymnastics community just weeks before an all-important competition, everything the Knoxes have worked so hard for feels suddenly at risk. As rumors swirl among the other parents, revealing hidden plots and allegiances, Katie tries frantically to hold her family together while also finding herself drawn, irresistibly, to the crime itself, and the dark corners it threatens to illuminate. From a writer with "exceptional gifts for making nerves jangle and skin crawl," (Janet Maslin) You Will Know Me is a breathless rollercoaster of a novel about the desperate limits of desire, jealousy, and ambition.

Really slow start, kind of boring, I was hoping for a more surprising twist at the rnd but I just ended up hating almost all the characters.

Intriguing title. "You will know me." One assumes that the antagonist, or another character in this clever novel about a family and their extremely gifted child, will use that line at an important juncture. But could it be addressed to me as the reader? If so, what does it mean? Devon Knox is one of those rare children, soon to become a young woman, to whom gymnastics, especially vaulting, comes naturally. If not Olympic material, she's close. Her family, led by her ambitious father Eric and her along-for-the-ride, loving mother Katie are in-hock up to their necks to support their daughter. Then tragedy occurs. One of the young men helping to run the gym club dies in mysterious circumstances. We follow the story through Katie's eyes as her ordered life spins out of control. Impossible to keep your own eyes averted as disaster looms.

This book is very well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat until almost the very end. not sure who did it... The characters are all well developed and you see the story perspective of many different people. It is a coming of age story in the life of an elite gymnast. The way people treat you when you are the best, the expectations. STOP HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ A SPOILER!!!!

What a tragic story!!! This is the story of a young gymnast on the cusp of being the best!! It's isolating, and overwhelming for a young girl. The gossip, jealousy, bullying. Not sure who wants it more you or your coach or your parents... Loss of innocence and situations that you are too young to fully comprehend. And in the end so tragic, so many people affected, who's lives will never be the same.
