is it true that they're doing a Season 3? This season wrapped up all the plot lines so neatly. A really unique show, loved it.

Nearly as brilliant as series 1. A definite must-see for anyone who enjoys TV situation comedy the likes of the 1970's "The Bob Newhart Show", the 90's "Seinfeld", or the 2010's "Curb Your Enthusiasm". There's absolutely nothing like this show on current American TV. Brilliant writing and acting. Adult themed, but still family-watching friendly. Plus, this darn tv show is just fun to sit down and watch to see what's going to happen next. Speaking of what's going to happen next, from what I can tell by way of Googling, the next series --- Season 3 --- is being filmed the summer of 2017, and will air in England Fall/Winter 2017/18, and released in the USA spring/summer 2018.

Such a great show. Subtle, brilliant humor. The writing and performances are just excellent, and the second season is just as strong as the first. Recommended.

This British series, which is about fairly ordinary people who enjoy metal detecting as a hobby, is a treasure. It is very well done. I really like how the friendship between the main characters is depicted. The humor is subtle and light. Don't expect a lot of belly laughs, but you can expect good writing as well as beautiful scenery and music. With many series, I find that I don't enjoy the second season as much as the first--it's as though they've used up all of their best ideas--but I actually liked the second season of Detectorists even more than the first. I appreciated the further development of the characters. Be sure to watch the Christmas Special included with series 2 since it builds on the season and wraps things up for the time being.

The earlier series (#1) is very good. This one is not even half as good!

If only the CBC could come with something even close to this series. A true delight in every sense, well written, well acted and just a real a lot of fun. It is no wonder people pay to subscribe to BBC, television that is provided for other than the lowest common denominator.

I understand that a third season is being considered and I truly hope that it is. Perhaps a tough act to follow but I would take my chances. It was a moment of sadness when I had watched the last episode realizing there were no more episodes to look forward to.

One of the very very BEST shows I have seen in a while! The writing and acting is superb so far above much of what we see. Definitely very British. Wish there were more episodes for each season.

****** We loved the detectorists series on TV when visiting the UK. So happy the library had it on DVD so we could finish the series plus all the special features. Such quirky characters, a true slice of life British style. Mackenzie Crook has great talent as actor, director and especially as writer. Looking forward to seeing more from him in coming years.
