I've been reading Astro City for years. This volume is just as good as the rest. I like how each book is a snapshot of life in the city. The series doesn't follow a strict chronological order, so you don't have to start at the beginning. You can start anywhere and jump around, exploring Astro City piece by piece, like you're taking a self-guided tour. The consistent quality of the stories is really impressive. Kurt Busiek is one of the best writers working in comics today.

A bit trite, but not without fun.

In this volume, Winged Victory deals with a villain trying to destroy her reputation. I liked the discussion of the challenges Winged Victory faces because she has to be more than just a superhero; she has to be an example of and for all women.

Never read Astro City before and have to say I enjoyed it. It was fun and the DC archetypes are pretty easy to recognize. Didn't seem or feel too heavy handed with underlying themes but not so lightweight that it was a waste of time. It also profiles some of Brent Anderson's best work and why I loved his stuff on Ka Zar back in the day.
