"As far as urban fantasy goes, this series (The Dresden Files) is one of the best. Sure it won’t get you thinking about renaissance economics or the philosophical meaning of existence, but it will get you cheering when Dresden battles evil with a reanimated a T-Rex skeleton. Wow! Great start to the series. Good take on the noir, detective genre - love the storytelling of Butcher, the magic twist on the PI trope is well done, totally believable.
Downsides are the gender role stereotyping, we'll have to see how this issue goes in the rest of the series.

Had this series described to me as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a Wizard meets Sherlock," and absolutely had to read it. Enjoyed the first book, and am excited to move onto the second!

This book is fun. I have seen the tv series that was based on this book and the book is even better. Jim Butcher has created a modern day fantasy through magic and detective work.

Storm Front is a noir detective mystery, with a twist! Harry Dresden, detective, is also Harry Dresden, wizard. Setting the events in Chicago does give it a classic feel even though there's a lot of super-naturalism going on. The character of Dresden is that right mix of a troubled past, raw courage and an evolving morality. It's rewarding to follow along as he climbs out of the situations he ends up in.

I look forward to continuing the series. This book is a great start.

Yawn. I didn't care for this at all. From my perspective, 1 of 10 stars

“I'd made the vampire cry. Great. I felt like a real superhero. Harry Dresden, breaker of monsters' hearts.”

“Paranoid? Probably. But just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there isn't an invisible demon about to eat your face.”
