wasn't impressed - neither lead is a strong singer or dancer - definitely didn't live up to the hype!

Don't believe the hype and skip this movie altogether.

This is not as good as Fred and Ginger but I admire Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling for even trying. The Hollywood musical has been dead for years... we should applaud these people for resurrecting it. Hopefully the door is open to more in future.

Amazingly wonderful movie. I loved the dancing, music, storyline and acting. Loved in the theatres and loved it on DVD.

No chemistry between the leads, no story line, dancing uninspiring. Very amateurish. Hard to believe this almost won an academy award. Fortunately watched this at home with a fast forward button.

Totally disappointed, especially after a long wait for the CD from the library, I actually gave up after 20 minutes.

So happened I have just watched two films by Doris Day, this one simply pale when compared.

I saw this fantastic film seven times in the theater. Bought both soundtracks and the DVD. This is my new favorite movie. The music, story and acting (especially Emma Stone) are just wonderful. Love La La Land!

I understand that this type of movie won't appeal to everyone, but I loved it. I thought this worked beautifully as a modern, fresh musical. It was lovely to watch and I thought Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were both outstanding.

I am a musical fan. I was so excited to see this production. The first 5 minutes into this movie I was still wondering what all the hype was about. This is not a movie I am impressed with. I felt that every scene was like a screen test. My opinion is that the actors just did not mesh together. The movie just did not flow for me.

Quite a few in IMDb already but here is one not there -- Audition (The Fools Who Dream)

Stone's aunt P1 of 2:

My aunt used lived in Paris.
I remember, she used to come home and tell us...
These stories about being abroad and...
I remember she told us that she jumped into the river once...
Barefoot
She smiled...
Leapt ...
Without looking
And tumbled into...
The Seine
The water was freezing
She spent a month sneezing
But said she would do it again
Here's to the ones who dream
Foolish as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that ache
Here's to the mess we made
She captured a feeling Sky with no ceilling

Stone's aunt P2 of 2:

The sunset inside a frame
She lived in her liquor And died with a flicker
I'll always remember the flame
Here's to the ones who dream
Foolish as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that ache
Here's to the mess we made
She told me...
"A bit of madeness is key"
"To give us new colors to see"
"Who knows where it will lead us?"
"And that's why they need us"
Bring on the rebels
The ripples from pebbles
The painters, and poets, and plays
And here's to the fools who dream
Crazy as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that break
Here's to the mess we made
I trace it all back to then
Her, and the snow, and the Seine
Smiling trough it
She said she'd do it
Again
