This is a pleasant enough release,it's been sometime since I last heard from the former lead man for the 60's British band the Kinks, probably that MTV hit "Come Dancing" from 1985. I had read somewhere that Ray despised the American record buying public for buying up that crap, and here he names this release Americana?
The Kinks were the best social commentary songwriters in England in the 60's,and here he keeps up that wry sense of songwriting craft, and even throws in some nostalgia for TV and film Cowboys. I guess hanging around with his neighbour Alex Chilton ( the Box Tops, Big Star) has rubbed off on him in some strange ways.
