When rural Ohio college professor Peter Mellor dies in an automobile accident during a zombie outbreak, he is reborn as a highly intelligent (yet somewhat amnesiac) member of the living dead. With society crumbling around him and violence escalating into daily life, Peter quickly learns that being a zombie isn't all fun and brains. Humans--unsympathetic, generally, to his new proclivities--try to kill him at nearly every opportunity. His old friends are loath to associate with him. And he finds himself inconveniently addicted to the gooey stuff inside of people's heads. As if all this weren't bad enough, Peter soon learns that his automobile accident was no accident at all. Faced with the harrowing mystery of his death, Peter resolves to use his strange zombie "afterlife" to solve his own murder.

One of the best Zombie books I've ever read...and I've read a few. This book offers a well thought out perspective that has not been well presented until Zombie, Ohio. Great details throughout the book (I wish I could lend you my imagination's movie adaptation of this book. John Cusack is the protagonist). Great variety in emotions (at one point I was laughing and grossed out simultaneously).

A zombie philosophy professor from Ohio. Brilliant!

FangFiction Jul 19, 2011

In this great story, Peter is a small-town college professor who is killed in a car wreck and immediately becomes a zombie in the midst of a global zombie plague. Follow Peter as he does the best he can to cope with his new "life"--gathering together his very own zombie hoard and trying to figure out who caused his "accident" by tampering with is brakes. Even when Peter is scarfing down brains as if they were Ben & Jerry's ice cream cups, you can't help but admire him for his intelligence, his determination, and his dark sense of humor.
