It was a good, action packed, adventure mystery intrigue with different characters. It mainly focuses on Ryan's adventure and his relationship with his family. It's a good premise and a good beginning to multiple books. It wraps up 3/4 of the story in this one leaving the other 25% for #2. This and "Desert Dark" have similar themes, however I think the layers and characters are better done in Desert Dark. I don't know if this one really brings something incredibly new to the spy genre. The only thing that was of notable interest was the foreign country they travel to that is obviously a stand-in for North Korea. Still a fun read, boys will enjoy and fans of James Bond will love.
