Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen. That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right. Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon's face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here--it's their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up.

Euan Morton's breathtaking performance perfectly enhances Rainbow Rowell's superb storytelling. This is a teen vampire fanfic novel that is SO MUCH MORE than just another teen vampire fanfic novel. Sorry, Shakespeare. Poor Romeo and Juliet just seem so meh compared to Simon and Baz.

Carry On is the gay Harry Potter fanfic that everyone needs in their life. This book is a cute, fluffy love story with vampires and magic, that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This story is perfect to read on a vacation or a day off as it is a quick, easy read and will make you happy. The characters in this story are all so lovable and relatable that you’ll want to be their best friends. The plot of the story is fun and exciting. There’s action, mystery, romance, and drama. This book was very enjoyable to read and made me smile the whole way through. Anyone who is in need of cheering up should read this book. 5/5

Even if you're not into science fiction/fantasy you can enjoy this book. The writing style of Rainbow Rowell, in this one, is very entertaining. It can feel a little satirical of the fantasy genre, as Rowell comes up with the most hilarious names/characters/creatures you'll sometimes have to google. It touches on different themes, that don't only focus on romantic relationships. This is a book I would recommend if you want to escape from the real world for a while.

Although I'm a Rainbow Rowell fan, I had a hard time getting into Carry On. It's partly because I've never been a huge reader/fan of the fantasy and science fiction genres. The creatures and magical powers always just feel forced to me. Vampires, numpties, and other assorted creatures populate this story of Simon Snow who is the Mage's heir apparent. During his last year of school, Simon discovers true love and the real story behind his parents and magic powers.
