Vikings returns for a gripping fourth season. Season three culminated with the extraordinary battle in Paris, where Ragnar seized victory from the jaws of defeat, but still returns to Kattegat dangerously ill. Thoughts of his death galvanize the forces who seek to succeed him as king, including his wife Queen Aslaug and his oldest son, Bjorn. Meanwhile, Lagertha continues power struggles with her calculating, former second in command, Kalf.

Add a CommentContinues a good story about the mythical Viking King, Ragner. Season 4 Part 1 includes two failed attempts by Ragner to conquer Paris and defeat his brother Rollo. Have to figure that's not a good record for a Viking king. So Ragner leaves and disappears for 5-7 years or so and then returns to a hostile group of subjects in the last 6 minutes of the last episode. Clearly setting up Season 4, Part 2. Good entertainment and I am sure looking forward to Part 2.
Continues Ragnar Lothbrook's struggle against his brother and adds modern-day tropes such as drug addition, infidelity, and equality for women. All from the Vikings cultural point-of-view Yes, these seem to be eternal battles, all against a tableau of conquering the Brits and the Francs apparently.
This is a good series and the characters are well defined. It's at least as good as the series "Rome" that I think was on Showtime a while back. Worth taking a look at if you like "The Game Of Thrones". It's not like that series except it is has medieval setting but with less metaphysical and mystical stuff. Still it has a little bit of that too but of course without any dragons unless you count the dragons that are on the fronts of the viking ships.
A mostly disappointing season - Not near as good as the previous 3 seasons. Different writer(s) maybe? If so, I hope they get the old ones back!
