The Carrie Diaries is the coming-of-age story of Carrie Bradshaw, one of the most iconic characters of New York City and our generation. Before Sex and the City, Carrie was a small-town girl who knew she wanted more. She's ready for real life to start, but first she must navigate her senior year of high school. Up until now, Carrie and her friends have been inseparable. Then Sebastian Kydd comes into the picture, and a friend's betrayal makes her question everything. With an unforgettable cast of characters, The Carrie Diaries is the story of how a regular girl learns to think for herself and evolves into a sharp, insightful writer. Readers will learn about her family background, how she found her writing voice, and the indelible impression her early friendships and relationships left on her. Through adventures both audacious and poignant, we'll see what brings Carrie to her beloved New York City, where her new life begins.

When it came to the show you fell in love with the idea of Carrie & Sebastian but for the book Sebastian is just a complete dick. I'll find a new girl since you won't sleep with me?! None the less with her best friend?!

I've never been a follower of the Sex and the City show so the story worked OK with me. Candace Bushnell is a very good writer. The Carrie Diaries is a good entertaining read and it will keep you turning the pages.

A cute, quick read about Carrie when she was younger. It wasn't as great as I thought it'd be though.

If you're a hardcore "Sex & the City" TV series fan, this book will probably bug the crap out of you. It's hard to reconcile the Carrie in "The Carrie Diaries" with the Carrie on the show, particularly regarding her closeness to her family, which is non-existent in the show, and being raised by her widowed father, when one of the few mentions of family in the show references her father abandoning her and her mother when she was young. If you can put that aside, it's an entertaining enough teen coming-of-age story, and I'm very interested to read the next installment of the series to see where the story goes.
