Picking up this book about Betsy and Tacy is like jumping into a time machine and returning to my childhood. I got loved getting lost in the books of authors like Lois Lenski and Laura Ingalls Wilder. This series begins when Betsy and Tacy are five and become across-the-street neighbors. They are timeless and I look forward to reading each and every one and watching these two little girls grow up. Includes photos and bio information on the author.

This was such a treasure to discover and read with my daughter. I can't believe I missed this one as a kid. Sweet and simple, Betsy and Tacy are the childhood friends we all want in our lives.

A delightful novel about two little girls growing up that made me nostalgic for the "good ol' days" of woolen stockings, hot cocoa and sledding.

I have such good memories about reading this book many times when I was a little girl. I especially like how Tacy's hair is described as being like "fat sausages" and the last chapter is my favorite!

Great book for young readers. I didn't find the characters mischievous enough. A very quick read.

The first books are simple, but as the series develops and the characters age, the language gets more complex. It ends with "Betsy's Wedding" -- you really need to read the whole series to appreciate it!

I don't know why these are such classics. I think the writing is pretty bland and just one thing happens and then another without much plot development. Maybe 4-5 yr olds would like it read to them because it sounds a lot like someone just recorded them playing house.

It's about 5-year-old Betsy and her shy friend, Tacy. Together they have many adventours such as running away from school, making (and selling) bottles of colored sand, and many more. This is a wonderful book, and all of it's (almost) true! (It's based on Maud's (Betsy's) own childhood adventours with her friend Bick (Tacy).
