A thoughtful, quiet book with simple drawings that makes a very important statement about staying true to yourself. The book teaches children that it's okay to enjoy quiet activities like poetry and that it's okay if you don't fit the expectations others have for you. The important thing is to let yourself be you and let others be themselves too!

This is a great book for kids! It will remind them that it’s okay to be yourself and not feel pressured to conform. It really is a charming read. I fell in love with the message instantly.

Here is a gentle but strong story about being true to yourself. After reading, have a talk with your child about the ideas presented. I'm sure he or she will have some interesting things to say about how they can be a lion in their own lives. Ed Vere's illustrations are less silly than usual in this book because of the theme, and he gets the lion's emotions spot-on.
