An easy to read romance with a happy ending. When tragedy happens in a family, people react in different ways but everyone suffers. The father left from guilt, the mother became abusive and mentally ill. When the younger son returned to clean out the house of his estranged mother, he came upon a diary written by Noel and a young lady who was the unwanted daughter of Noel. It is a story about grace and forgiveness, about reconciliation with oneself and others. An enjoyable book to read!

I am a huge fan of Richard Paul Evans and even read his Young Adult series. While "The Noel Diary" was good I would have to say it was not great. The plot had potential but was not very well executed. Jacob Churcher is a highly successful author - one wonders if the story is autobiographical-who is estranged from his mother. He only goes back home on her death and secrets are revealed. He meets Rachael there and the rest is predictable. All in all a good book but not up to Evans' standards.

I can always count on Richard Paul Evans to write a Christmas story that requires tissues to read. This was a lovely story of love and grace which he says is somewhat autobiographical. I notice in about the middle of the book that he mentions doing research on Route 66 to write a book -- an obvious reference to his Broken Road series. In this book he defines the difference between a love story and a romance. His books are definitely love stories and I have loved all of them.

Give me some family drama, secrets and an old diary and I am sucked in. While not a particularly strong novel in terms of plot and character development, I still read it in one day.

It didn't engage me and therefore I will return it early. I LOVED "The Mistletoe Promise", which I found captivating from the first sentence. This one... not at all, sadly.

I read RPE's annual holiday novel every year. This is a simple, quick, feel-good story that can be read in few hours. The themes include overcoming painful childhoods, forgiveness, grace, and love. This could be read any time of year. It takes place in the winter but doesn't really focus on the holidays.

This was as good as the Mistletoe Series and unfortunately we have to wait a year for the next installment. Enjoy these books and they are always a one sitting read as you want to find out the ending of the story once you open the book and start reading. He draws you into the stories and the characters of his books and always leaves you wanting more.
