Every summer Lily and her father go to her family's house in Rockaway, near the Atlantic Ocean. But the summer of 1944 is different. My 11-year old daughter and her good friend enjoyed this audiobook together. She really loved it. It took place during World War 2. It is about an American girl whose dad has to go to Europe whose mom has died. Her best friend also had to leave. Her grandmother takes care of her, she makes new friends. The book draws the listener/reader in, helps you sympathize with Lily, understand how she thinks, share in her experiences as she grows up through this hard season in her life.
