I LOVE reading Jodi Picoult books. However, this is my least favorite after reading most of them. I felt it was predictible, which usually doesn't happen in her books.

This author has no problem using vulgarity and writing about graphic sex. Even though the book is based on rape, so much of the description is unnecessary.
Another con to this book was all of the different outside stories, i.e. Jack’s childhood and college years or Addie’s lost daughter, etc. It’s an insight into their history, but they really aren’t relevant to the storyline.
On the plus side was the character development, the intensity of their interactions and the seeming facts of what happens in rape cases such as these, the injustice/justice and the work involved in proving different sides.

For the first time in reading one of Jodi's books, I thought I had "figured it out" half way through. The ending still surprised me. . . However, if I hadn't had my own theory, I would have missed it in the last half of the last sentence of the book (no peeking!).
As always, a great read, immersing us in the feelings and point of view of every participant in the events as they unfold.

I loved this book! Its my new goal to read every Jodi Picoult fan. This is the second book I've read by Picoult (the first being Nineteen Minutes)
and I'm definitely impressed. She writes wonderful, honest and novels about tough subjects. Total Page turner.

Excellent read and retelling of Salem witch trials with a little twist. As usual with Jodi Picoult, the ending took me totally by surprise.

The novel "Salem Falls" served to reaffirm a few things(in my opinion):

1. A lie can destroy an innocent person's life forever.

2. Justice isn't always blind, sometimes she's downright prejudicial.

3. For about every conviction of guilt, there are also false convictions.

4. Things aren't always what they seem.

Absolutely astounding! I'm still reeling from the ending! I love how Jodi can just totally blind-side you, even in the very last sentence. A must-read!

A story of a modern day witch hunt. Not one of Picoult's best, with a very abrupt and disturbing ending.
