Elegant in its simplicity, Cicada translates heavy content with delightful illustrations.

Borrowed this awesome little book, thinking to read it to kids for story time. Then I discovered that it really isn't a kid's book. The artwork is fantastic. The story, while simple in text, is very profound. This book is zen!

This book is timely in so many ways as well as complex in its simplicity. My new favorite.

I suppose that younger readers can enjoy the surface-level story some. But the depth and breadth of the story (plus great illustrations) are best suited for high school through adult readers. I can see myself discussing this with roommates in college.

Beautifully sad and wonderfully odd. This one stayed with me.

Enchantingly mysterious and beautiful.

Weird and bleakly gorgeous.
