When Tony Lip, a bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx, is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley, a world-class Black pianist, on a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South, they must rely on The Green Book to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans. Confronted with racism, danger, as well as unexpected humanity and humor, they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime. Inspired by a true friendship.

Don't care about any awards. This movie is very good. The fact it is based on a true story (be sure to watch the credits) is a sad truth about American life in 1962 ....... and still today.
Great acting, great writing and truly a great story.

Overall, a very charming movie. Good acting and feel-good story that is based on true events. Not sure if it's worth best picture award, but still very worth seeing.

Perfect, as good as an American film gets, a film that you don't mind to watch again soon because it is LOL funny, moist-eyes touching and based on a real friendship of two winsome characters. Don't miss it.

Note: Nominated for 5 awards at the 2019 Oscars, winning 3 for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali. Viggo Mortensen was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role but lost to Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Not so bad if you strip away all the baggage that this one picked up during its run. Though it offers a fairly on-the-nose and simplistic take on race relations in America, the core story between Dr. Don Shirley and Tony Lip is what makes this movie run. Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen running an Odd Couple angle for two hours? Fuggedaboutit. I'll watch that all day long.

Totally loved this movie!

This is a modern day classic. Actors, acting abilities, and story were all perfect. Highly recommended. You are not going to watch anything better than this.

The movie is based on true stories. Viggo Peter Mortensen Jr.’s performance is so good and various from his another performances. He made his character so real but so representative. There are no dramatic scenes in the film but it surprises audiences everywhere by its details, sensitive, realistic and in a way to tell the story by heart and by a profound presentation. It leads you to the end and felt it is continuing.

Tony Lip: You know, when you first hired me, my wife went out and bought one of your records. The one about the orphans?

Dr. Don Shirley: Orphans?

Tony Lip: Yeah. Cover had a bunch of kids sittin' around a campfire?

Dr. Don Shirley: Orpheus.

Tony Lip: ...Yeah.

Dr. Don Shirley: Orpheus in the Underworld. It's based on a French opera. And those weren't children on the cover, those were demons in the bowels of Hell.

Tony Lip: No shxt! They must've been naughty kids!
