"Nikki Griffin isn't your typical private investigator. In her office above her bookstore's shelves and stacks, where she luxuriates in books and the comfort they provide, she also tracks certain men. Dangerous men. Men who have hurt the women they claim to love. And Nikki likes to teach those men a lesson, to teach them what it feels like to be hurt and helpless, so she can be sure that their victims are safe from them forever. When a regular PI job tailing Karen, a tech company's disgruntled employee who might be selling secrets, turns ugly and Karen's life is threatened, Nikki has to break cover and intervene. Karen tells Nikki that there are people after her. Dangerous men. She says she'll tell Nikki what's really going on. But then something goes wrong, and suddenly Nikki is no longer just solving a case--she's trying hard to stay alive. Part Lisbeth Salander, part Jack Reacher, part Jessica Jones, Nikki Griffin is a kickass character who readers will root for as she seeks to right the world's wrongs. -- Provided by publisher.

I was prepared to dislike the "drop-dead gorgeous, curvy, motorcycle-riding, ninja-fighting" Nikki, but the plot was intriguing enough to overcome this obstacle. I will look for further books in this series as they evolve.

Vigilantism, corrupt corporations, action and revenge.
What I liked: The characters had flaws which made them seem more real and relatable.
What I didn't like: There was a new boyfriend for the main character whose only purpose seemed to be a way for her to share her personal story. I felt that she could have shared this with her therapist instead, and leave out the boyfriend all together, as he did not add anything to the book.

I realized very soon after starting this book that the author was writing ala Robert Parker.
The protagonist sounded much like a Spencer wannabe. The fact that vilgilantism was involved was a turnoff. Stopped reading after several chapters.

Quick and easy, with plenty of action. I loved the premise of a female protagonist who has a double life of PI/vigilante. I think the story would've been better sticking to that. However, I'll be honest, I don't tend to like series, mostly because they are too formulaic, predictable, and we know the protagonist always wins so I feel that they tend to lack tension. This appears to be the first in what will be a series from a debut author. I think people who a like Jack Reacher type series will really enjoy this book. I will probably give the next book a try when it comes out.
