Amateurish and boring. After reading the first book in the series, I read the second hoping for an improvement in the prose or at the very least a cheap thrill. Neither of my wishes came true. The heroines of the story are neither likable or believable. At the end of the book, heroine police Lt. Lindsey Boxer, disobeys orders, puts the lives of her fellow police officers and the civilians on the street in harms way so she can take out the bad guy herself just because it has become a personal thing for her. It is an unfortunate and misleading commentary on how women conduct themselves professionally, and that throws aspersions on their competency to lead as authority figures. I won't be reading another of Patterson's books any time soon. I don't care how popular he is. Just an overrated writer that didn't live up to his hype.

The story line was good, but the writing was dripping with poor editing - I gave up counting how many times a sentence started "suddenly the phone rang'......"suddenly Claire entered the room"......."suddenly the door opened"...............(counted at least 10, then got irritated).........but I enjoy the characters, so will not give up on the series!

CD was okay – but not one of my favorites.
