There is a lot to interest a reader in this biography. It may be easier to engage with if you have some familiarity with Lewis as a famous Christian convert. I am not. I came at Lewis through his Narnia series, and McGrath has much to say about these books and his analysis and explanations of the development of this side of Lewis's writing did capture my attention. I found the detailed writing about Lewis's time at Oxford both as a student and as a teacher gave me insight into both this period or time and the way in which Oxford operated. Not an easy read, but skip the bits that aren't relevant to your interests.
