Summary

Kayla lives in a world where every 17 and over person must be tattooed. It isn't revealed why, but it will make your life better, they say. As time goes on, Kayla still does not believe in the tattoos. Then, her father sucides out of depression, ever since he gotten the tattoo, and leaves her mother scared. Soon, Kayla joins in on a rebellion group called Decode, to fight this ongoing problem. People are getting declined for jobs, and suffering deep depression. It isn't too long until Kayla's mother tries to burn the tattoo, and dies in the progress. Kayla is all alone in the world, and is on the run. News cast her as a prime suspect for her mother's death, and charges her for not having the tattoo, at the age 17. She meets a group in the high mountains, rebelling against the bar code as well, and stays there for a while, until the officers arrests the group. Kayla and her friends Mfumbe and August are the only ones now. And Kayla has a vision. A vision that the bar code rebels will stand against the government. A Bar Code Rebellion.
