The concept to Wake Up Missing is a bit far-fetched, but our four main characters are all well-developed and avoid feeling like one person with four mouthpieces. The action keeps pace quite well, considering the book's middle feels a bit longer than it needs to be, and the (relative) lack of twists helps the plot gallop toward its resolution. What's lacking is a true emotional connection to any of the characters, who don't really get enough down-times to showcase parts of their personality that aren't busy surviving or making plans.
