I've read everything J.A. Jance has published (and own over 40 of them). This is not my favorite set of characters, but there is Jance on every page fighting injustice, demanding that people take their heads out of the sand and discover what is going on in the would when we would rather not see it. Good for her. Some comments mention the "device" of a rich husband providing perks the 99.9% of us never experience, but that seems a harsh criticism against a woman author when men like Stuart Woods sell 30 novels with the IDENTICAL plot, no redeeming social value, and rich people give his main character 5 million dollar yachts, bullet proof cars and airplanes (usually because he is good in bed). Yes, Ali Reynolds' is a fantasy life, but short of a fairy godmother it is one escape many/most women have wished for on occasion. If you are from the SW read Joanna Brady series instead. If you are PNW start with J.P. Beaumont series.
