What a lovely book! It captures what life is: a collection of moments. Anyone looking for a sweeping narrative will be let down, but that's not the point of the book. Instead, it simply gives glimpses of life as it unfolds. How we make sense of the world around us during our pre-teen/teen years in large parts results in who we become as adults. In that sense, This One Summer presents an experience most readers should be able to relate to. It doesn't hurt that the artwork is beautiful, either. A treat.
