When We Collided is a memorable love story, even though it may seem basic. The characters are so different from each other and the story dives deeper than a summer romance. Jonah has 5 siblings and is always busy taking over a family restaurant business and watching his siblings. He doesn't really get to experience everything other kids his age do. Vivi, on the other hand, is an only child and is really outgoing and spontaneous. Throughout the novel, the two characters learn a lot from each other and experience new things they usually wouldn't, such as Vivi having dinner with a large family and Jonah going to parties. The mention of Vivi having an illness is very important for teens to read about. I think it's great that the author talked about mental health and brought awareness to how serious it is. On the other hand, I would say the storyline was rushed at times and didn't have a complete ending. @avacadojai of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library To be very honest, I did not expect a lot from the book when I read the synopsis. I was not too surprised with my end feeling of this book - not too good but also not bad. The author gave us an interesting story with the switching of two points of view. I found that I some difficulty with grasping the motives of the characters: I felt that the author wrote these off as "immaturity" and "hopeless" romantic themed spurs of the moment. The book could have been written better, yes, but it had a nice tang to it. - @Siri of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board
