The reader is easy on the ears and does well to vary the voices of the characters. The story itself is pretty dull. It is advertised as a thriller but the writing doesn't convince the reader that the narrator is in danger at any point. There is not enough variation in the descriptions; every loud noise sounds like a gunshot, apparently. Lo is easily the least interesting character in the novel. There are several factors that should make her an unreliable narrator: she drinks too much, she takes anxiety medication (with the alcohol), and she doesn't sleep. Yet, her account of the events turns out to be totally accurate? Around disc seven the story starts to become interesting, but it doesn't last. The climax is a little too ridiculous. The most interesting part of the book is the third person news reports which periodically break up the story.
