Family Tree is a charming read about family, first love, and roots. (Thus... "Family Tree".) The story begins with Annie, a successful cooking show producer and happy wife to the show's star. When catastrophe strikes, Annie must pick up the fragments of her past in order to make sense of her future. The setting of this, one of the most recent Wiggs books, was lovely! I really enjoyed all the talk of the love of cooking, maple syrup, and Vermont landscapes (I've never been, but I sure want to now!!). Annie was an endearingly realistic character with flaws, quirks, and hurts. She doesn't let tragedy significantly change her. The romance was heartwarming, but the real story is about Annie's connections to her family, her past, and food. Although it dragged a bit at times, this was a worthwhile read perfect for late summer lazy days.
