One of the most thought-provoking books I've ever read. With a concept like this (clinics of the past that expand beyond the memory-loss patients they were made for), there are so many places you can go with it, and this author goes all over, which I actually really liked! From patient stories at the clinic to each European country's chosen era, you get such a wide view of the way personal memory & shared memory of the past influences everything. Kind of 1984 vibes in that the writing is very philosophical, but more experimental and meta with its perspective, which again, LOVED. Instant classic for me.
