CRRL History: Hadrian's Wall
Hadrian's Wall is a marvel of Roman engineering; construction on the ancient rampart began almost 2000 years ago, in 122 A.D., and sections of it still stand. Ostensibly built to keep out unruly barbarian tribes, soldiers from all over the Roman Empire were sent to garrison the extensive fortification. Today, there is a hiking path that runs the length of the wall. It offers stunning vistas of the beautiful English countryside and access to Roman historical sites. Enjoy these informative books and documentaries on one of Britain’s ancient wonders.
