To say that "The Animatrix" could've been a helluva lot better than it was would truly be an understatement.
This 2003 presentation contains 9 short, animated films (using video-game style visuals) whose stories are set within the (apparently) fathomless world of the Matrix.
And, when one seriously considers the seemingly endless possibilities that the world of the Matrix has to offer - I'm surprised that none of the stories neither inspired nor broadened one's perspective on this supposedly limitless dimension of virtual-reality.
Anyway - Throughout its entire 90-minute running time - I found that "The Animatrix" never once managed to rise above the level of being pedestrian entertainment. To say that "The Animatrix" could've been a helluva lot better than it was would truly be an understatement.

There are probably very few people out there who are not familiar with the name of "Dr. Seuss" (aka. Theodor Geisel - 1904-1991) whose mega-popular, illustrated books for children have sold millions of copies, worldwide, and have been translated into 22 different languages.
This delightful book is an engaging look back in time at the artwork and stories that Geisel had produced before he became world-renowned for his children's books that have earned him his rightful place (as a true icon) in the very heart of pop culture.

And, with that said - I think that this biography of Geisel (written by Donald Pease) could've certainly been a whole lot more engaging than it inevitably was.
Yes. Pease did do his duty as a competent writer to cover Geisel's life and career in as few words as possible.
But (IMO) - Due to the undeniable iconic position that Geisel's work has placed him when it comes to the realm of pop culture, I certainly believe that his life deserved a much more warm and welcoming coverage than this.Like many others of you out there - As a child, I was someone who thoroughly enjoyed reading the books illustrated and written by Dr. Seuss (aka. Well - This book titled "Fart Proudly" contains thirty-eight examples of what are considered to be some of Franklin's most noteworthy satirical writings, spanning from the years 1732-1789.
Yes. Indeed. These writings were penned more than two-hundred years ago when the outlook on humor greatly differed from what it does today.

I have to tell ya that I find it very, very difficult to believe that awful Adolf actually had any charisma, at all.
But, regardless of what I think - That slimy, hateful Nazi-monster certainly had some kind of incomprehensible appeal which somehow convinced millions of Germans to support him in his diabolical designs to become the world's ultimate dictator.
Through years of in-depth research, British author, Laurence Rees has compiled this disturbing, yet, thought-provoking book that closely examines the true nature of horrible Hitler's puzzling appeal.
And, this "charisma" of Hitler's clearly played a significant role when it came to his sadistic success in shaping modern-day history through the mass extermination of the Jews during WW2.

(Filmed on a budget of just $250,000) - I would never say that this 1963 film-adaptation of William Golding's novel (of the same name) was great movie-making.....
But, if nothing else - "Lord of the Flies" certainly did make quite a powerful statement about how quickly innocent children (who are completely isolated from adults) will form their own government and, ultimately, turn to savagery and cold-blooded violence without a second thought.
Filmed entirely in Puerto Rico (but its story was set on an uninhabited island in the South Pacific) - "Lord of the Flies" (due to its unconventional subject matter) is particularly notable for the ultra-conservative era in film-making history in which it was made.
Competently directed by UK film-maker, Peter Brook - The performances of the 30 boys cast in the film were all, pretty much, improvised. This illustrated biography of popular American singer/actress, Doris Day was published back in 2000 (19 years before her death in 2019 at age 97).
Compiled by American biographer, Michael Freedland - This informative pictorial documentation offers the reader a good overview of Day's life and career, starting from her childhood back in Cincinnati, and right on through to her retirement from show business and her public advocacy for animal rights.

With our very first glimpse of the ever-elegant Rita Hayworth in "Gilda" it's so easy to understand why this beautiful woman was voted, time and again, one of Hollywood's #1 Pin-Up Girls of the 1940's. Rita Hayworth is absolutely radiant in this flick. At the age of 28 Rita never looked sexier, or more alluring than this. Just her, alone, in this picture makes it well-worth viewing.
Rita Hayworth plays the title character, Gilda, in this rather screwy (weren't they all?) Rom-Com from 1946. Gilda is the mega-pampered, American wife of a mysterious, Argentinian-born, casino owner named Mundson. (Now, how's that for a real, authentic-sounding, Latin-American name?)
It's hard to imagine that "Gilda" is actually a comedy, but it is!! I must say that I found it to be pretty lame when it came to the chuckle-and-laugh department. But Gilda was entertaining. And, of course, Rita Hayworth never failed to be anything but a stunning eyeful.
The big highlight in "Gilda" is watching Rita Hayworth do her sensational "Put The Blame On Mame" number. With our very first glimpse of the ever-elegant Rita Hayworth in "Gilda" it's so easy to understand why this beautiful woman was voted, time and again, one of Hollywood's #1 Pin-Up Girls of the 1940's. When it comes to Suntan's story-line - I guess that I must be a really old-fashioned kinda guy 'cause I failed to be at all entertained by a movie whose story whole-heartedly applauded a reckless, shallow doctor (who reminded me of Elmer Fudd) who initiated sex with his patients. Like - C'mon, already!
And, on top of that unsavory aspect of "Suntan" - I also have to say that if a movie is gonna contain nudity, then, its "nude ones" should be at least somewhat attractive to look at. (Don't you agree?)
